Triathlon Race Checklist
Essential items for your race bag:
- Swim suit
- Wetsuit (optional, but worth it!)
- Swim Cap
- Swim goggles (make sure they don’t leak!)
- Suntan lotion
- Sunglasses
- Watch
- Helmet
- Socks
- Bike shoes
- Running shoes
- Running hat
- Towels
- Water bottles — Fill with water or energy drink of your choice)
- Energy Gels- GU, Power Gels, Cliff Shots
- Body Glide or Vaseline
- Triathlon belt
- Lace locks
- Race recovery water bottles — I like Endurox.
- Plastic bags (in case of rain to cover stuff and put wet clothes in after race.)
- Rubbermaid dish pan, if you are concerned about sand on your feet. (I use the one provided at race.)
- Race clothes — for any weather conditions that could pop up. I just wear my swimsuit, but this took me years to finally do!)
- Marker to find your bike/transition area like a balloon, flag, or lawn ornament.
- Warm race clothing — be prepared for weather changes, rain, cool morning, etc...
- Baby oil — removes permanent marker from legs/arms for your evening activities.
- Towel, shampoo, soap, and hairbrush; some triathlons have shower facilities.
- Before and after race clothing — shorts, tee, sweatshirt, sandals, dry socks, etc...
More Crucial Essentials:
- Bike with Race Wheels (make sure YOU put your front wheel in your auto.) It’s happen to me!
- Flat repair kit in seat bag on bike. Go through beforehand.
- Floor pump (pump tires to max the morning of the race, not the night before.)
